Financial Secretary

We are seeking a Financial Secretary to manage and maintain the church’s financial records, ensuring proper stewardship of funds. The role is flexible for full-time or part-time employment, depending on the right candidate’s availability. Responsibilities include managing accounts, budgets, payroll, and reporting to church leadership.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the General Ledger, operating accounts, restricted funds, and investment/endowment funds.
  • Process payables, receivables, and payroll.
  • Assist with budget development and provide regular financial reports.
  • Prepare records for the annual audit and year-end reports.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, contributions, and payroll data.
  • Handle payroll and track employee leave.
  • Provide financial reports to church committees.
  • Attend Finance Committee meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Experience with bookkeeping, accounting software (e.g., Excel), and payroll procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must pass a background check.
